After learning about the work of the scientist Rachel Carson, Year 2 carried out a water pollution experiment to find out how pesticides get into the ocean.
We carefully measured out the gravel and water before placing figures and animals in the small world boxes.
Then we added Percy Pig and Colin the Caterpillar cake topper sprinkles every day before making it rain with a water spray.
Each day we used a pipette to take a sample.
Our findings showed that the rain washed the sprinkles (pesticides) into the water since it became dirtier and cloudier every day.
There was also a pungent smell by the 5th day!
