The children were introduced to examples of mosaic from ancient times throughto the modern day. They explored their facial features, eye colour and hair/skin tones using an iPad ‘selfie’ as a guide. They drew their own self-portraits. The ‘Stronger Together’ art project required a collaborative piece designed by the children. They recognised that individual tiles could be fitted together to create one larger piece,demonstrating the ‘stronger together’ concept. The children also remembered that a pyramid is a strong sturdy structure which inspired them to create a pyramid piece together, portrait by portrait( brick by brick), to show that they are ‘stronger together’ as a class.
