Year 1 enjoyed a visit to Scotswood Nature Garden .They took part in a Seasonal Special Activities of Autumn .
First the children discussed the characteristics of Autumn and answered various questions. What season is it? How can we tell it is Autumn? Is that the same/different to summer?
Next the children explored the different types of trees that could be found and looked at the different shapes and colours of the leaves. The children identified evergreen and deciduous trees .
The children where then asked to use their observational skills to look for signs of autumn?
Finally, the children got to play in the woods! Children chose various activities such as :
- Tree climbing
- Bug hunting
- Small world box
Year 1 had great fun exploring and learning about the season of Autumn and what nature has to offer !
